NSFW? Variegated ladybugs, Hippodamia variegata, making more beetles. Photo taken on Bond Street by the Gowanus Canal. Quite a bit of action, so to speak, on these leaves. Note the eggs below, the aphid (?) on the left, and the remains of something by the female beetle’s front right.

X-rated pictures right on my screen! I wonder if the little aphid will become a post-romance snack? And if they’ll share. That’s an awful lot of action for one leaf.

Sometimes the macro feature on my camera does a good job. I didn’t notice the non-ladybug things until looking at the image later.
