I’m still looking for hard evidence, i.e. fledglings, of Green-Wood breeding Eastern Kingbirds. In the meantime, enjoy this rare look at the rather subtle touch of red on the bird’s head.

Throwing up a pellet of indigestible insect bits. Camera didn’t catch the bolus, but last year….
Wow! I’ve never seen any red on these birds. Is it male vs. female, adult vs. fledgling, breeding plumage vs.alternate?
Both males and females, evidently. Raised when they’re going after predators.
I have seen them going after predators, but only at a distance – much too far to see the details. Great sighting!
