A Raccoon (Procyon lotor) was sprawled out on the second story fire-escape of my building’s inner courtyard yesterday. The critter probably found the shade most welcome on a hot day. It’s no tree cavity out there, true, but real estate is a bear in this borough. The animal was snoozing, as they are wont to do during daylight.
But woke up to the paparazzi. Unfortunately, the animal is not welcome. The basement has to be secured against its marauding.
I get my coffee then I get my Matthew! Thank you for all your precious gifts we receive every morning from you.Your photography, your historical facts all your knowledge.
I, like you. have serious feelings for all living things. I feel sorry that the raccoon can’t sleep in peace, he’ll need to move along to save himself from the monsters who persue him, who shoo him away.
That’s all. Thanks again.

Thank you, Monica! It’s readers/viewers like you who care that keep me at it.
I read your daily blog with pleasure. Sometimes it makes me weep. Other times it makes me happy. What we do to our natural world is a crime. Someday we will wake up to that reality. Poor raccoon. I hope that he finds another resting place where he will be able to sleep without being disturbed. Nature’s creatures deserve better in our cement universe. They are victims of our unceasing need to build.
