  1. Interesting. Are the white bits the honeydew?

    1. I think those are another form of the aphids, which have winged, sexually reproducing cohorts. They also reproduce asexually, and so cover all their bases, not to mention all the plants. The honeydew emerges from the business end of the aphids, where droplets of it are harvested by the ants for the colony.
