      It’s a skeletonized leaf. Insects and decay made it. I found this one in some leaf litter in Green-Wood Cemetery.
      Evidently they can be also be made at home, http://www.theidearoom.net/2010/10/how-to-make-leaf-skeletons.html but then where is the fun of stumbling upon one?
