Monarchs

I didn’t see a single Monarch caterpillar or pupa in June and July.
But then, on August 4th…
Five individual larvae on the same Swamp Milkweed (A. incarnata) plant.

    For what it’s worth, I’ve seen very few butterflies this year except for cabbage whites and an occasional small blue – probably summer azure.

    Last year at this time, I had 10 Monarch caterpillars. This year, I only had 3. Only one survived to become a butterfly. 😥
