Raptor Wednesday

This pile of sticks is not, in fact, a hawk nest. It’s the Monk Parakeet colony on Green-Wood’s Neo-Gothic gate, but one young Red-tail seems pretty convinced that parakeet is on the menu.
And where there is one Red-tail these days of pair-bonding and mating, there may often be others. There’s actually a third hawk perched behind the top of this tower as well. One more was in the air behind me.
The Monks seemed ill-pleased.
