More Henslow, Please

A bird unimpressed by people. As a vagrant rarity, this little creature has attracted crowds to the cemetery. But the bird just goes on patrolling the grass and the edges of the road, sometimes getting quite close to people. This has worried some observers: is the animal alright? A sparrow maven’s quote that the species is known to not flush is making the rounds. Henslow don’t care.

I saw the bird eating what looked like a worm, a millipede, and an earwig. It’s fantastic that all this invertebrate foodstuff is available — the bird has stayed in the same general area this whole time. Seeds are also on the menu.

Otherwise, Green-Wood is extraordinarily un-birdy this fall.
