Great Northern

It’s hard to play favorites in the wide, wonderful world of insects, but the Great Northern Bumblebee is sure up there. Bombus fervidus.

    Saw one of these at the butterfly garden in CP a week ago. It dwarfs all the other bees. Quite a sight! I didn’t know they came this big. It was warm and fuzzy, but somehow I didn’t feel like cuddling with it.
