Winter Firefly?
Hollowed-out carapace of a Cicada-killer Wasp.
The shaggy bark of a venerable black cherry (P. serrotina) flakes off onto the ground around the tree.
Soon. Native cherries bloom later than the exotics I pictured Tuesday.
