Stumbled on another American Chestnut in Prospect Park. A city of leaves on a hill.
where in PP did you find it? I teach naturalist studies and we’re discussing seed dispersal right now. I’d love to bring in a sample.
This spring I found a piece of husk from an American chestnut, but no seeds. This year I saw no evidence of seeds at all. As far as I understand, these chestnuts were all planted in the park in an effort to , well, I’m not sure what, since they are all doomed by the blight. But I do love seeing them.
