  1. Hi Matthew! When are these photos from? I haven’t seen the GWC hummer since June 8th. Been watching for lengthy amount of time and have given up as gone. ANY info much appreciated. Thanks!

    1. These pictures are from June 7th. I heard about the bird’s disappearance on June 14th; my source said a cemetery garbage truck had been seen beneath the nest, maybe idling? On the 14th, I spent about 30 minutes at the site with a couple of friends to see if we could see any sign of the bird or new nest, but no such luck was had. (Unfortunately, I forgot to update my pre-programmed post, so apologies for the confusion.)

      1. Thanks Matthew, your source was likely informed about the garbage truck by me, ha. Idling truck is a theory, but unknown because i only observed that work being done a day or two after she’d been missing, unclear whether they had been doing the same work a couple days earlier, or she got off the nest for a different reason. Good news is, MY source (prolly the same source) saw her briefly poke around at the nest yesterday. So, looks like we can rule out death and cross our fingers for a second brood perhaps.

      2. You probably know about last September’s brood there, so that means a good bit of time still, if mates are available.
