Backyard and Beyond

The Bald Eagle Visitation

Last Monday, I saw a long line of bird crap string out of a pine. Whoa! I always keep an eye on the pines in winter in case of owls. It took me a moment or two to find the culprit.

We occasionally get Bald Eagle fly-overs in Green-Wood, but actually perched ones are rare. This one has no bird bands. This was probably the same bird seen well in Prospect Park the day before.

  1. Beautiful. I’m seeing them more frequently at my cabin (well, a few times a year) and I think it’s because Missouri has a “hacking” program for releasing them here that causes them to return to the state in their winter migrations.
