Not a single Tufted Titmouse was seen in Brooklyn during the day of the 2023 Christmas Bird Count. There was at least one spotted during the week surrounding the CBC, though, and I saw this one, in Green-Wood, a couple of weeks beforehand.
Starting out from Brooklyn, an amateur naturalist explores our world.
As John Burroughs said, “The place to observe nature is where you are.”

During my Christmas Count I finally saw Robins in abundance. All summer Mary a one in our yard. This year’s count was a challenge. The weather was great though. We went over and over our area birding for this or that species we knew had to be there. We started with two Kingfishers right away. That gave us courage.
Kingfishers are always heartening.
Such a sweet cute little bird! One of my favorites and you photos are wonderful!!
Thanks for your posts and photos! Looking forward to the year ahead!
