Backyard and Beyond 
Some of these fruiting bodies are beautiful to behold. Others a bit spooky or icky. I never heard that they have pollination or pollinators, so why do they have any color at all. Making an attractive organ is energy and resource expensive. What is the objective of this expense and effort for these species and their relatives?
