Anax junius

Common Blue Darners, one of the largest species of dragonfly you’ll see in New York City,, are migratory. They move south in the fall. September days are good ones for seeing them.
There were actually three perched in close proximity on these already dried-up mugworts.

Wait, so a fair number of the Fox-poisoned believe major American cities are smoldering ruins? Good gravy, some people need to turn off their televisions and get some air.

    I was told epiaeschna heros (swamp darner) is the largest. I have found it most often foraging bugs from automobile radiators at stop lights, but did see a few on bushes in the park.

      Swamp Darners are a bit larger.
