Raptor Wednesday

I was surprised by this scene atop the hill over Sylvan Water. Red-tailed Hawk with what’s left of Gray Squirrel prey.
The blow flies were on the remains quickly.
The cere, the bit above the beak, yellows with age
Feaking, the cleaning of the bill, will come later. (A term of falconry, from the German for cleanse, sweep.)
The birds crop is bulging with meat.
