It’s a bleak time of year for lifeforms. Here are the remains of a mushroom.
A knotty knot.
Wrong-way icicle (not on the receiving end of one dripping from above).
Owl pellet.
Mantis ootheca.
Sap run.

    oh-uh-thee-kuh. Had to look it up. Didn’t know if that was a winter sleeping bag for one bug or a bag of eggs waiting for spring. It’s eggs. Is hatching determined by temperature, photo period or calendar date? Something to look forward to.
