Raptor Wednesday

Coopers!
An hour after seeing the Coopers I was thinking to myself that I hadn’t seen a single Red-tailed Hawk. Then I saw this silhouette. Buteo all-over, but, frankly, even high up in a Tuliptree it looked a little small.
Well, well, well!
A Red-shouldered Hawk. And not only that, but an adult one. (The immatures are rather similar to young Red-tails.) First I’ve seen this winter, which so far has been spent entirely within the narrow confines of Brooklyn. Checks notes: didn’t even see one during fall raptor migration.
