



I realized after the fact and in some surprise that I’d flushed this heron from underneath a nearby pine. And that the bird wanted to get back under there.

In an office park near my home is suburbia there is an old sycamore with a dozen heron nests in it. The birds return every spring to raise their broods. Gotten to be something of a tourist destination (viewed from a distance).
