Raptor Wednesday

I don’t often see Merlins, but when I do, they’re often up here, in this same tree, at least for this and last winter.
On this particularly dark and gloomy day, an American Kestrel male flew into the tree.
There was some staring, and some flying at each other. (Damn tree was in the way for observers.)
The Kestrel eventually flew and I left the Merlin as I’d found the bird, perched up there, surveying the scene.
