This endearing warbler is a favorite of novice birders for several reasons. Their behavior is closer to that of nuthatches and creepers because they forage on branches and trunks, not among the leaves or while airborne. Their clear, distinct black and white stripes make them fairly easy to identify, even when compared to a Blackpoll or a Cerulean Warbler. Even their song is sweet and uncomplicated. You don’t need great high spectrum audio ability to hear it. This is a very accessable species.
