Does this bug have the ability to uncrumple its wings for flight? I guess this distortion of the wings serves a camouflage purpose. I can’t think of any other reason.
The distortion you see may be an optical effect. Fore and hind wings are flat-is.
Impressive illusion! Looks like somebody wadded it into a ball and tossed it, to me.
