Backyard and Beyond

Starting out from Brooklyn, an amateur naturalist explores our world.

As John Burroughs said, “The place to observe nature is where you are.”

Something to Wash Out The Hate

IMG_9037If you’re still recovering from the shameless exhibition of fear and loathing that was the finale of washed-out TV personality Donald Trump’s grotesque career — that tirade in search of a balcony, that harangue for a meaner, nastier America — then this one’s for you.

Two species of bees, two species of wasps, one skipper… but of course it was impossible to get more than a semblance of all the activity in one frame.

  2. Beauties. Wish we could be in “recovery” mode, still many months ahead of this nonsense. Please keep sharing!

I have learned so much from the beautiful photos and descriptions you send out. Learning little details about what is in my backyard just makes the experience all the more glorious.

I do so appreciate your comments on Trump. I feel I have been bullied into silence because relatives are putting out such nastiness. Mind you now, if they were my relatives, I’d give ’em hell Harry! But they are in- laws and I adore my husband (who is not in the least aligned with them politically so it’s not genetic lol) but, I will not be the cause of a major blow up. So reading what you have to say soothes my soul enough to know hubs and I are not alone in our feelings.

Thank you and I hope you have the most beautiful day.
