Raptor Wednesday
All the birds at the Dell Water bird feeder scattered as this adult Sharp-shinned Hawk/Accipiter striatus zoomed in low to the ground. It was unsuccessful sortie. No lunch. Persistent Coot
This is the first American Coot I can recall being on Sylvan Water. And it has stuck around. Managed to use the cover of the pond-side mausoleums to sneak up on the bird.

Ducks
Four Hooded Merganser and a pair of Buffleheads on Sylvan Water recently. Not-Mallards are pretty skittish, but this one was forced closer to the shore because of ice. Taking off to other end of pond, had enough of humans. Northern Shoveler at an inaccessible part of the Brooklyn shoreline.
