
One of the traditional ways of collecting insects is to beat or shake a plant, collecting all the things that fall down to a collection tray or sheet below.

I’ve never done that, but I have been looking hard at the Evening Primroses recently. Oenothera are busy right now!


Most of that to the left of these Japanese Beetles is poop, but look up around 10:00.

A tiny lady beetle.





There were also several rolled and silk tied leaves. Most were filled with poop and nothing else.


One had plenty of poop, and three differently sized larvae.
