A couple of weeks ago I saw a crow in this crotch of a tree. The next thing I noticed was that the crotch was filled with sticks.

Days passed. Once, when I was going by without a camera (it happens), I saw a crow perched near the nest. Then on March 30th, I managed to photograph somebody in the nest.

Judging from the sounds, it’s a pair of American Crows. This wall of trees along the D train cut will get mighty green soon, so I don’t know what will be visible next month when there should be little crowy heads popping up.

On the left through the trees is one of the big lights for the MTA yard. Looks like that’s where the partner crow is hanging out. Their nest is to the right.

On Sunday, after days of hearing a Fish Crow “uh-uh-ing across the street, I found two of them at this mishmash of sticks. Another nest in the making! This one is two blocks from the American Crow nest. We are, in short, living between two crows’ nests.
