The last Odonata of the season should be Autumn Meadowhawks and Common Green Darners.

Common Green Darners are a migratory species, so expect them to be passing through. I saw one being eaten by a Kestrel on Oct 24.

This was one of half a dozen seen November 6th. I waited a while before I could photograph one not moving.

Here are three of half a dozen mating pairs of Autumn Meadowhawks ovipositing in Sylvan Water, 11/6. One solo male landed on my hand.

A pair landed on my boot.

This Rambur’s Forktail male, seen on October 29th, will probably turn out to be the last damselfly of the year. On that day, it was the only Ode around Sylvan Water.
