It is the breeding time of year, when smaller birds dare to go after the much bigger, sometimes in teams, other times solo as in this case.

It’s also the time of year raptor go after smaller birds. (so is the rest of the year). A month ago the favorite meal of Peregrines half a block away was Northern Flicker. Last week it was Starling. This weekend they switched to Blue Jay. I’m guessing Robin will be next.
