Eggs etc.
Two separate strands of Leaf-footed Bug eggs lined up alongside the underside rib of Pignut Hickory leaflets. Same tree. Keep a sharp eye out at all times. These were stuck to the paint on a metal gate, which I thought a bit odd.Let’s get a little closer. They look like dumplings. The next day: tiny caterpillars! (I unaccountably erased better photos, but not before putting ’em up on iNaturalist.)The next day, I didn’t make it past this spot. But three days after first spotting the eggs, I returned again, only to find no sign of the caterpillars, just the leftovers of the egg glue.The location: a bit of a long march, for a tiny caterpillar, to something green….
