Starting out from Brooklyn, an amateur naturalist explores our world.
As John Burroughs said, “The place to observe nature is where you are.”
And so it begins
The mewling of youngsters pulled me up a hillside for the sight of some insistent fledgling Chipping Sparrows. There were at least three. Here’s one demanding food–now! I saw young Chippies back on June 23rd, too, and last month as well. Pulled off the road by the sound of the Chipping, I also found my first south-bound migrants of the year. American Redstart. And Black and White Warbler.
