Herd

Horned Lark at one of the few tundra-like places in Brooklyn: patches of Floyd Bennett Field. Not the grasslands, but the “barren” lawn bits between roads and runways. The Cricket Oval is another spot there they like when they slum down here in winter.

    Always a joy to see! In the past the Coast Guard Station at Jones Beach has been dependable for these beautiful birds.
