A Baltimore Oriole nest left over from the summer. High up in a linden. So much ribbon! But then, this is a cemetery, and balloons (boo!) and flowers bouquets (inimical to nature in their own way) come tied.
The weavers will find their material. In Prospect Park once, I’ve watched an Oriole pecking at some (probably plastic) rope for nesting material. Back here in Green-Wood, I’ve seen them grabbing at the stringy fibers of yucca.

“It’s 37 days after election, all 50 states certified, 306 electoral votes confirmed for Biden, won by 7 million votes nationwide, Trump has lost 55 court cases, no evidence of fraud & yet he’s still trying to overturn election results & 90% of GOP is complicit.” Ari Berman, yesterday.
