The 8th annual NYC Wildflower Week starts tomorrow. And for the last several years, this event has gotten off with a bang… the explosion of bird voices in the blooming flowers and leafing trees. I call it the Listening Tour: a silent walk through loud woods. We are silent, the woods are loud. Set your alarm and bring your ears. The birds this morning started at 4:20 a.m., according to one of my field agents, who heard them through an open window, so be thankful we get such a late start at 6 a.m.

Really wanted to join you, but a tiring week made it hard to get up early enough 😦

Many thanks, Matthew. This morning’s Listening Tour was an ear-opening, eye-opening, brain-loosening walk through one of NYC’s great parks.
