  2. I saw that same blue beetle when I was near Cimarron, NM last summer.

    1. Handsome devil, ain’t it? I’ll look into what type it is when I a get a free half-hour.

    2. This is Gibbifer californicus, sometimes known as the Pleasing Fungus Beetle. The elytra can be black, pale blue, or bluish purple.
