    Matthew…Beautiful photo…but these aren’t blooming on Nantucket now! It’s coming into the goldenrod.
    When did you take this?

      This was last Saturday, near Miacomet if you know the island. Southwest central portion, near the golf course if you don’t. Same time/day as the burying beetles. The flower was actually pointed out to me; from a distance it looked like premature fall leaves… This is a rare wildflower on the island. I read somewhere that deer love to eat this flower, so that I was lucky.

        P.S.: Dunwiddie’s Checklist of Nantucket Wildflowers does list it as blooming in “JA”, July and August.
